Site Survey- Retail Security Guard

Complete a Site Survey to identify the customer’s security requirements.

 

 
If possible after introducing yourself, but before completing the survey with the client, take the time to walk through the entire store to gain an understanding and make notes of the immediate vulnerabilities, you observe as this may influence questions you ask during the survey process. 

 

Use the Notes box at the end to include these notes and any other questions asked that aren't included in this survey.

 

Walk through observation check list:

Are customers able to leave the store without passing the cashier?
Could customers leave the store via a fire exit unnoticed?
Are the fire exits alarmed?
Are there any blind spots where customers could conceal items for later collection or work as teams to conceal their activity?

Please complete the following questions with the Client

Please include quantity of security guards, times and days.
This may include previous security guard/ company, how shop assistants dealt with it, etc.
Is there a record of the incidents of theft or attempted theft available to view or take a copy of?

Alternatively take a patrol of the store and make a note during the visit
Are the high value items covered by CCTV?
Are security alarm tags attached to any items?
Are there any items kept in locked display cabinets?
Are CCTV cameras in the store monitored by anyone?
Are there any areas that are definitely not covered by the CCTV?
This may include assisting with loading incoming stock, patrols, etc
Will the security operative's duties include any locking and unlocking on the premises?
Does the client require out of hour alarm service?
Will a locker or safe storage area be available for the security operative's personal possessions?
A customer is suspected of theft, the security operative should:
Select from below the circumstances when the client like a guard to confront a customer.
Select from below the actions the client would like a guard to conduct when confronting a customer suspected of theft.
In which circumstances would the client want the police called?
What actions would the client want taken if a known or banned thief enters the store?
In the event of suspected theft, does the client consent to searches being conducted?
Is there a designated area where consented searches can take place?
Does the client require security to perform random searches on their own staff?
Does the client want security guards to be subjected to random searches?

Are there any emergency procedures for the following, the client would like security guards to be responsible for performing? Please give details of the procedures.
